For scale, that's me waving a charcoaled rag of surrender. I got a little carried away! (Photo courtesy of co-vendor Jay Meadors). The 2nd image was my practice version at home, which was only 4 ft. high. I should have stuck to those dimensions. 🙄 But it was fun, and it amused people, so all is well. Later, I learned that if I had gently misted it with water, I would not have had to breathe so much chalk dust!

Added some red and blue ink, and a body, to my pencil drawing. Everyone has skeletons in their closet, or even fresh bodies, as seems to be the premise of StartUp, a current Netflix series that premiered on Crackle in 2016. There’s a shady FBI agent, an astute programmer, a Haitian drug lord, a crooked financier, and an ideological banker, all teaming up to beat the system and enrich themselves. Plenty of treachery and literal back-stabbing will have you looking over your own shoulder as you watch this. And it’s interesting how this well-written script can generate empathy for the most appalling characters!

The Scream or rabbit tracks in the snow?

Transitioning from Christmas ornaments to _? What artist does this remind you of? (Clue: the inspiration for this ornament was created in 1934, a black and white lithograph, "Hand with reflecting globe.")

It's always good practice to draw while binge-watching #netflixseries , in this case, Dept. Q. I try to resist freeze-framing to draw from stills; rather I draw while the actors are in motion. #inkdrawing #caricature

Recently my husband and I cleaned out our basement, which had been crammed full of musty old boxes full of old reprints, science journals, and lab equipment. I was thrilled to find a few originals of the scanning electron micrographs of gorgeous dinoflagellates he had made during his time as an associate professor at Harvard.

Mr. Robot is not a Netflix series for everyone. But I had to draw this great character enacted by Rami Malek as the computer hacker nerd extraordinaire, Eliot Alderson, who is out to save the world. (The acting by the entire cast was exceptional.) I had to slog through 2 really depressing seasons before I finally felt like I was "getting it." But the final season 4 was worth all my trouble. Is Eliot real, or a figment of his own imagination? The audience, who was personally invited along for the ride, is challenged with the notion if one could create a perfect world by rewriting the code for it, would that be best? Or would that leave some of your loved ones, even yourself, out? #mrrobot #penandinkdrawing

The trees at Weaver Street Market are ready to talk to anyone willing to listen.
