I was asked once if I was a dilettante, I guess because I’m always trying out new forms of expression. According to an online dictionary, “dil•et•tante” means “a person who cultivates an area of interest, such as the arts, without real commitment or knowledge; a dabbler.” I would say, yes, I’m a dabbler, but I take my dabbling very seriously…
Halloween 2013: I created a paper “Trick or Tree” in my office, in which people could find chocolate and chips in various holes.
Halloween 2012: I left this paper effigy in my place in the office while I stayed home and entertained.
For fun, I’ll occasionally do face and arm painting at events.
In 2010 I created a grayscale mural from photos of Greg Dodge of the creatures and plants that might be found at the Museum of LIfe and Science’s wetland. Visitors, mainly kids, helped color it in with acrylic glazes.
With the help of various volunteers young and old, I created several papier maché animals for a Heifer International fundraising project at my church, in 2008. (We raised $3000)
Created this 17’x5′ mural collaboratively with the high school youth group at West Raleigh Presbyterian Church, 2008.
